Repulsive is an adjective that should be used carefully.

When you are sick, making filet mignon in an espagnole sauce is not something I would recommend. Alas, the class was non-cancellable, and you don't throw good money down the tube (especially when you don't have a job).

I also do not recommend that when your teacher asks what you think of the dish you just made that you respond with "It's repulsive." I tried explaining that it was just my illness talking, but the damage was done. Time to find a new cooking teacher.

Sinusitis Sucks

I'm so over being sick. I was diagnosed with chronic sinusitis related to a severely deviated septum when I was a freshman in college. This was after spending three months going to the Student Health Center, and the doctors there recommending cough syrup. Since then, I've had a few doctors mention that surgery is the only long-term solution. Yeah, I'll pass since I'm saving up for a combined rhinoplasty. For now, I am periodically sidelined with sinusitis. You know you have sinusitis because it's like a cold, but painful. Your face just hurts. I've been in this state for a week now, and it's not fun.

I've basically quarantined myself this week with the occassional field trip. My field trip last night was to the on-call room to watch the Bears game/VMA awards with J and one of his fellow residents. If you didn't see either, I'm sure you heard about what happened. My thoughts:

- I think there will be more tears on poor Taylor's guitar. I bet some tears will also be over that bedazzled dress bag she wore. Thankfully she changed before her second appearance on stage.
- What was Amber Rose wearing? And at least support the girls more if you are going to wear that. They looked sad.
- I wish Jay-Z had called security on Lil' Mama.
- Is it too late for all the Northsiders to return their Cutler jerseys?

Blogging Again - OMG Y'all

I haven't blogged in, I think, two, maybe three, years. I stopped for lots of reasons. Actually, it's just one reason, but it varies depending on who you ask. I believe I stopped because I got too busy when I went back to school. The person watching me do this right now argues that I stopped because I just became lazy and anti-social. Eh, let's compromise and say it's both.

Now, there is a different reason for why I won't restart. Mainly, there is a concern that I don't have anything to blog about since my favorite topics are all gone:

- "Laguna Beach" has been cancelled. Lauren isn't even on "The Hills" anymore.
- Since I no longer work, I can't b*tch about my co-workers.
- There are no longer random dates with guys I pick up on the bus.
- And, my crazy roommate is now also my boyfriend. Awwwwkward.

Nevertheless, I shall give it a try for my fans' (err, fan's) sake. Also, I've had sinusitis for nearly a week now and the cabin fever has gotten to me.

On to the blog post....

I've gotten really interested in cake decorating thanks to the FoodNetwork's "Last Cake Standing," TLC's "Cake Boss" and WE's "Amazing Wedding Cakes." Not to mention, I volunteer down the street from the
CakeGirls, who have won the FoodNetwork challenges and appear on the WE show. I occassionally spy Mary and Brenda, which does make me ridiculously excited, and I even considered asking them for an autograph. I'm pretty sure that reinforces my loser status.

Before I got sick (see above), I signed up for a cake decorating class. Can I just say that they make it look A LOT easier than it is? Oh, and I have no artistic ability whatsoever. This was my first attempt. It lacks all the precise and technical skills my teacher tried to instill in me. However, it does successully mock J's "wisherman" status. (Cake)art imitating life.
